SOLD: 1924 PACKARD LIMOUSINE. 1924 Packard Limousine. Serial 17604A. The vehicle was restored (body off frame full restoration) about twenty years ago although there are still some odds and ends that require attention (mechanically - the fuel supply float needs replacing and possibly a differential leak, aesthetically � some door/window handles are missing and the head lamps require refinishing. The body is actually 1923 with a 1924 chassis. The frame had been sand blasted and then treated and painted. The body compartment has been completely restored. This included new wood as required for the structure, and all new interior upholstery. The work performed is exceptional, with attention given to detail. The upper part of the body is aluminum. All door lock strikers are solid brass. The front chauffer area had two cow hides tanned in deep burgundy for the seats and door panel. The passenger compartment has a. very nice up scale material in a taupe color. The chauffer has wooden spoke steering wheel, gauges for the engine and a Waltham clock. This clock is considered a collectors item, with a value around $2,000.00 in 1989. The engine is a six cylinder with a fuelizer carburetor. The power train had been overhauled and repaired as required. Wheels have all new wooden spindles. The white wall tires are new. There is another headlight assembly, but has not been re chromed. The radiator was nickel plated by a company in Toronto. There had been a problem getting it to run well, due to carburetion problem. The vehicle has been stored in a garage for the last fifteen years. There is work be done to the vehicle, but not serious in nature. |
