DESCRIPTION
FOR SALE: 1971 MERCURY COUGAR XR7 CONVERTIBLE. Same owner for 32 years. It is original in every detail, refinished at Fawcett Motors in 1998 due to scratches and paint faiding, the cost of refinishing (paint and a new convertible top was just under $8k). The car was owned by Michael Wahlen, who is a sportscaster on TSN. He was a linesman in the WHA at that time, and needed to sell it to get the funds to travel to Calgary to take a NHL referees course. Unfortunately for him, after he passed his referees’ course, the WHA folded, and he could not get a position as a referee in the NHL. The car had 14 k on it when bought by second owner. It has a 351 cleveland engine, auto, with p.s., p.b., p.w. and leather interior. It also has factory tinted glass all around, it is an XR7. The colour is Ford Code 5, which is bronze. Original colour. The interior is ginger leather, not vinyl, and has the Cougar embossed in the front and back seats. It has a rim blow horn, which works, and sequential turn signals in perfect working order. The convertible top is also new, and the tires are blue ribbon radials with less than 2k on them. It only has a Ford Philco original AM radio, but since it is an XR7 model, it can be modified to add air conditiioning without reventing. |
